If you are interested in teaching students’ ai, ay while reading a story than this is the activity for you. This activity makes learning ai, ay fun and engaging. The story tells why the ai, ay make the sounds that they do. The wall signs come with songs and a short story. My students have really liked using this activity when we are learning about ai, ay. I will use this activity the first day to introduce the skill.

Video Ideas and Books that Teach AI and AY
-I wrote down
videos that cover AI and AY. I also wrote
down books that you can read that will help emphasize on AI and AY.
Here
is an example on how to use the story: On chart paper, draw a line in the
middle. Write ai on one side and ay on
the other side. Read the story and sing
the songs from the wall display. Have
students listen for ai and ay words.
Then have them get with a partner and tell them the words that they
heard. After they have told their
partner, call on students to tell you what words that they heard and write it
on the chart paper under the correct category.
