High Frequency Words (Literacy First) Complete Word List Homework Packet Bundled

If you need a homework idea for Kindergarten through Second grade than this product is for you.  This is a very basic start for parents.

This activity gives the parents the responsibility of going over the different skills with their children.  There is a guideline when everything is expected to be learned.  I use this in my classroom and it has helped me tremendously.

I have bundled my High Frequency Homework Packets

The products that I have bundled are:

In the Kindergarten High Frequency Words Homework Packet

There are 56 pages in this packet

  • Parent Letter that explains how to use this product
  • Guidelines (when everything is expected to be learned)
  • Two types of checklist (you decide which one works better for you)
  • Uppercase, Lowercase Letter recognition
  • Consonant Sounds
  • Blending Words
  • The first 30 High Frequency Words from Literacy First
  • every list has flashcards that can be sent home for parents to use

This packet is broken into lists.  It comes with 45 lists.

-The first nine list covers uppercase, lowercase letters, and consonant sounds.

-List ten through thirty-nine covers blending words.  I used word families to create the blending words.  The word families are ab, ad, ag, am, an, ap, at, ed, en, et, id, im, in, ip, it, ob, og, op, ot, ub, ug, un, all, ell, and ill.

-List thirty-five through thirty-nine is a mixture of all of the word families.

-Then list forty through forty-five covers High Frequency Words from Literacy First (the, of, and, a, to, in, is, you, that, it at, be, this have, from, or, one, had, by, me, there, use, an, each, which, she, do how, their, if).

-The guideline that comes with this packet gives the parent an understanding of when you want each list to be covered.  Once the list is covered the parent checks off that list on the checklist.  When you get it back then you go over that list with the student and write + if they do know it or write down what they missed.

Parent Guidelines
I created guidelines for each packet.  This gives parents dates on which I would like certain parts of the packet to be completed.  The dates are helpful to have because it gives parents and students goals on when they should know certain things.

Checklists
Checklists are for you and the parents be able to communicate with each other.  There are 2 checklists.  One that parents use and one that you will use in the classroom.  The above checklist is the one that you will use for each student.  I did make one that goes home with parents.  That checklists has an option for comments to be written.  Parents will send the checklist back with a check on when they feel their child is ready to be tested on a list.  You will then test the list.  If students are ready then you will move them on to the next list.  If students are not ready then you will write down the words that they missed in the comments.  Checklists are very helpful for you and the parents to know where students are at in learning the packet.

When testing students on each packet, you could give your para or teacher assistant the responsibility of testing students.  You will just want to make sure that you teach who ever is testing them the process in which you would want them to do it.

I love these packets because once a student is done with one of them then you could move them on to the next one.  This is helpful when students are learning to read.  It gives parents and students goals on learning their sight words.  When students are done learning a packet, I have them eat lunch with me as a reward.  I will have my student pick where they would like to eat.  Sometimes we will even go to the playground and eat on the slides.  Students love having this opportunity to get to spend one on one time with me.

I hope that you will enjoy this as much as I do.
