Do you need a fun way for your students to
interact with sight words? I created an
apple themed sight word packet. In this
packet students will be able to engage and have fun. I use this activity during my apple theme. I like to place the different activities
around the classroom during center time and give students the opportunity to do
each activity. My students love the
variety. In this activity students can
play Go Fish, Memory, Matching, and etc with the cards that are provided. There is a file folder game that students can
play too.
In this packet you will find:
- Apple Baskets Sight Word Cards
- Green, Yellow, Red, and Black and White Apple Sight Words
- Small Green, Yellow, Red, and Black and White Apple Sight Words
- File Folder Game
- Apple Sight Word Tree Pages
- Apples and Apple Trees Writing Pages
- Apple Sight Word Book
- Apple Sight Word Worksheet
I used the first 100
High Frequency Words from Literacy First in the Word Cards, Apple Sight Words,
Small Apple Sight Words, and Apple Sight Word Trees
Ideas on how to use the Apple Basket Sight Word Cards or Apple Sight Words:
- You can play Go Fish or Memory
- Hide the cards around the room and have students find them.
- Hide the cards around your classroom. Students will find the sight words and daub or color the sight word on the black and white Apple Sight Word Page or write them in the apple or tree sight word writing page.
- You can play games like mingle or 2 circles.
File Folder Game
Print off 2 sight
word trees and 2 small apple sight words that match. Cut the tree out and glue onto a file
folder. Cut out the small apple sight
words. Have students match the small
apple sight words to the sight words on the tree.
Apples and Apple Tree
Writing Pages
Hide word cards
around the classroom or put them on your word wall. Have students write sight words in the apple
writing page or the apple tree writing page.
Apple Sight Word Book
Have students create
the book and write sight words in the apples.
Apple Sight Word
Worksheet
The apples are
falling from the tree. Students need to
get the apple basket to the tree before they fall to the ground. Students will write sight words in the
apples. They start at the basket and
follow the apple trail until they get to the tree.
My main goal is to have students actively with their peers while learn their high frequency words
