Turkey Theme Sight Words Activities (High Frequency Words, Literacy First, List A)

 

Do you need a fun way for your students to interact with sight words?  I created a turkey themed sight word packet.  In this packet students will be able to engage and have fun.  I use this activity during thanksgiving.  I like to place the different activities around the classroom during center time and give students the opportunity to do each activity.  My students love the variety.  In this activity students can play Go Fish, Memory, Matching, and etc with the cards that are provided.  There is a file folder game that students can play too.

Ideas on how to use the Turkey Sight Word Cards:

1. You can play Go Fish or Memory.
2. Hide the cards around the room and have students find them.
3. Hide the cards around your classroom.  Students will find the sight words and daub, color, or      write them on the sight word on the Turkey Sight Writing Page.
4. You can play games like mingle or 2 circles.

Ideas on how to use the File Folder Game

Print off 2 Turkeys with sight words and sight words in boxes.  Cut the turkeys out and glue onto a file folder.  Cut out the sight words in boxes.  Have students match the sight word in boxes to the sight words on the turkeys.

Ideas on how to use the Turkey Sight Words Match

Students will match sight word feathers to the turkeys.

Ideas on how to use the Turkey Writing Page

Hide word cards around the classroom or put them on your word wall.  Have students write sight words on the turkey writing page.

Ideas on how to use the Turkey Sight Word Book

Have students create the book and write sight words on the turkeys.

Ideas on how to use the Turkey Sight Word Worksheet

Help the turkey eat all of the apples.  Have students write sight words in each apple until all of them have a word.
 

Ideas on how to use the Take Home Word Cards

These cards can be sent home to help parents go over sight words with their children.

I used the first 100 High Frequency Words from Literacy First, List A.

This activity comes in color and black and white.

 My main goal is to have students actively with their peers while learn their high frequency words.
