Second Grade High Frequency Words List C (Literacy First) Word List Homework Packet

I created this activity to help parents and teachers with High Frequency words. This packet will allow the parent and student to go at a reasonable pace. There are 30 word lists that has 10 words in each. Parents can use the word cards as flashcards. When the parents think their child is ready to be tested on a word list then they write ready on the checklist. The teacher then goes over the word list with the student. If the student has learned it then the teacher marks off the list with a checkmark. If the student does not pass the list then the teacher writes down the words that the student missed.

This product comes with the third High Frequency Words                    (which is List C):

  • parent letters explaining the homework packet and a guideline that allows parents to know when everything is expected to be learned
  • 300 High Frequency Word Packet
  • Checklist to allow the parent to let the teacher know when their child has learned a list
  • 300 High Frequency Word Cards
  • another checklist that you can check off the words that the student knows

The guideline that comes with this packet gives the parent an understanding of when you want each list to be covered.

I made word cards for every word that is used in this word list.   Parents can use the word cards as flashcards.  They can also play games with the cards.

When parents feel that his/her child is ready to be tested on the word list, the parent checks off that list on the checklist.  When you get it back then you go over that list with the student and write + if they do know it or write down what they missed.

This packet is broken into 30 lists.  In each list are 10 words.  There are 300 words total.  The words come from Literacy First.

My students have really enjoyed this homework packet.  It makes having homework not so stressful on the student, parent, or the teacher.  This packet gives students the opportunity to work on their high frequency words which will help them become better readers.
